AVAC Team Takes Gar Glenney Cup
SAN JOSE, Calif. The team from Almaden Valley Athletic Club of San Jose, California, captained by Manny Fernandez, has captured the Gar Glenney Cup, bringing the award back to Northern California after an absence of two years.
    The AVAC team included Edward Ang, David Ball, Adrian Chamdani, Vikram Chari, Kial Kaiser, Cameron Klinger, J. Nishimura, Cody Rakela and Logan Staggs.

AVAC Hosts NTRP Doubles Classic Tourney Memorial Day Weekend

SAN JOSE, Calif.  Almaden Valley Athletic Club, the Bay Area’s premier, award winning family facility that offers total health, fitness and wellness programs for all ages, invites community members to watch or participate in the 2008 AVAC NTRP Doubles Classic Tournament on May 23-26, 2008. Matches will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008; 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25; and 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26.

This will be the 12th consecutive year that AVAC hosts the tournament and a portion of the proceeds benefits National Tennis Championships (“NTC”). NTC is a non-profit corporation that organizes the USTA Girls’ 18 National Championships and supports tennis and educational programs for underprivileged youth in inner-city communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Named a USTA NorCal Tournament of the Year for the tenth time, the tournament charges no admission to spectators and is open to the entire community.
